Five news of the day

Big demonstration at  Toulouse Jean Jaurès  University > Around 200 students took over the governing council of the University of Toulouse Jean Jaurès that was supposed to talk about a possible merger with the 2 others universities of Toulouse (Capitole and Paul Sabatier). Because of this situation, the council was canceled. Students and teachers of the university protested against this measure because they are worried about the probable rise of registration fees. There is also the concern that the university will organize a selective entry process for first year students.

Burglaries still too numerous in Toulouse > Yesterday Haute-Garonne prefect presented 2016 data of the delinquency in the department. The biggest problem of the city still burglaries that have increased by 9%, but we can also point to the surge of sexual assaults (+16%). There are also some good points like decline of car theft (-6,5%) and particularly the 35% decrease in armed robbery.

Demonstation for health defense in Toulouse downtown > The unions of Toulouse CHU are calling for health professionals to demonstrate today in downtown Toulouse. They want to protest against a lack of funds and the plan to eliminate 200 jobs in 2017 and 2018.  

France VS Sweden in 1/4 finale of handball world cup > France’s handball team is going to face Sweden tonight in the quarter final match of the World Handball Cup. For the first time since the beginning of the competition, you can watch the game free at 7pm on TF1.
